On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Mongolian–German diplomatic relations, the Zanabazar Fine Art Museum hosts the “2 day in Mongolia” by  ZEIGENeV and Blue Sun Center of Contemporary Art of Mongolia.

The exhibition results from a long research phase, which was followed by the Art Camp Bavaria (June 17 to July), the exhibition “The Post-Nomadic Experience” in Mürsbach, Germany, and the Art Camp Mongolia in the Bulgan province (July 29 – August 11).

The exhibition at the Zanabazar Museum maps out the different notions of nomadic cultures through the lens of the artists´ works of the two countries. Contemporary Western nomadic modes of work (Franz Ackermann) and fascination with shamanic energies (Nadine Rennert) meet Tengrianism (Dalkh-Ochir Jondonjunai), Mongol Zurag (Nomin Bold) and influences by Chinggis Khaan´s lasting legacy (Gerelkhuuu Ganbold). The exhibition includes a strong presentation of female artists from both countries (Enkhzaya Erdenebilg and Heike Baranowsky).

The artists found mutual inspiration from one another and their respective cultural environments in Bavaria and Mongolia. The exhibition presents a complex view of nomadic life today and was inspired by the famous painting “A Day in Mongolia” by the master D. B. Sharav.
From the German side, a few exemplary works by A.R. Penck complement the extraordinary visual complexities of the rich Mongolian visual heritage.

The project in Mongolia was made possible by generous support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Germany, the Bavarian State Chancellery, and the Oberfranken Stiftung in Germany.
